Anyone using one of these? Are they any good. Im looking for one with freeview.
Any recomendations? Hauppauge seems to be the main player but have read some poor reviews from users

Make sure you get one with an external aerial connector as well as the onboard aerial (depending on use)

I got the freecom one yesterday, works really well and comes with an external aerial.

Picked up 25 channels and 20 odd radio stations

Circa £30

Check if the one you are buying has a USB 1.1 or 2 connection and that you have the correct one.

Please don't mistake me for someone that know's how computer's work, but i think it would say in the manual or you may find out on the internet, look at your computer's make web site.
I only found out mine was a USB 1 when i bought one of these things and it said i had plugged in a USB 2 device and it may not work or work at a slower speed, anyway, it didn't work.
Just my luck.

If your ports on the PC are USB 2 than a USB 1 (or more likely 1.1) device will work just not at USB 2.0 speeds. If your ports are USB 1.1 then a USB 2.0 device may work (at a slower speed) .
The only way to check will be to look at the device manager - though you can get some idea depending on the age of the PC (pre pentium 4 cica PIII or AMD duron) will probably only have USB 1.1 ports.
