For all you Gran Turismo nuts out there. Basicly the challenge is to take a standard Z3M coupe and using the Nurbergring circuit to see who can get the quickest lap.

There is a reason for this, basicly i'm off to `The Ring` in April with a few of the Cerbera owners and am taking my M3 (Z3M is the closest to my e36). I'd just like to know how much off the pace i am, to use all you hardened GT4 drivers out there as a yard stick and obviously get plenty of practice in before i go.

Cheers,

M3John.

when you mean standard do you mean using tires that the car starts off with as I think they are racing medium compunds. If you want it to be realistic as possible then you have to change it to road tires.

Don't forget in the game, you can take the corners with no fear / on the limit every corner.

That cannot be replicated on the road.

Can the Z3 M coupe be bought as new? Otherwise I'll have to wait to find another one.

Funny how everyone starts to talk about realism and the cars but no-one actually has a crack at a time

I think the car is standard, and that was on Standard Road Tyres, ( +1 excursion into the barriers hehe)

Scrap that time, beat it on 2nd lap, 8' 37.883

I may be slow, but at least i'm consistent hehe

If you have trouble finding one just keep going into travel mode. Every photo counts as a day and the garage changes every 7

Oh yes thanks for the heads up but, i'm fully aware of the implications and realism between the road and the game. I just wanted to pit-my-witts against some of the hard core amongst you all as my friend's are not into GT as much as us lot.

Not played GT4 for a bit (since putting in a cheat giving me billions and over 700 cars haha) so i slapped the pad in and had a go at this.
Standard car, just turned off all assists, manual box, joypad in hand...

result was 8.37.525

It was quite nice browsing the car collection actually as i have yet to see many of them.
Is the carbon 'amuse' R34 a common one?
I don't remember seeing that before.

I shall have to get some pics of some of the more tasty cars

The Amuse car is just one of the ones you can buy from the tuner shops (the Amuse one as it happens) so you could say its pretty easy to get hold of, great fun that one.

What driving aids do you use, my settings are

TCS 0
Oversteer 0
Understeer 8

find that works quite well fotr most cars!

Just got a 8'18.234 for my lap round the Nordschleife in a M coupe. That's with everything set to standard.

Could be quite fun to do a Ring challenge every week in a standard car. If anyone is up for it.

None Sir..as i mentioned, all assists off.The only thing i put on if the cars are impossible to drive
is traction control.By impossible, i mean things like a tuned TVR speed 12 etc that just sit spinning the wheels if you breath on the accelerator button lol.I just hate that totaly planted feel any of the assists
give you so always turn them off.My lap wasn't pretty : p

Anyway, was close wasn't it?
I was positively willing it on round the last corner shouting "COME ON....COME ON!!"
Tbh though, that's not an especially good time by you and i.I got quite a few lines wrong, still never
remember every single curve, hit the grass a couple of times..

Experts will laugh at such a time i'm sure!

i think sub 8:10 is pretty easy to attain, my 8:15 time had some terrible lines and some time on grass, nice idea with the ring time attack for each week

Opps that last time that I posted was on Sport tyres. I had to go and buy some road tyres and did the lap in 8'28.095.

Only way to make it completely fair is to use a brand new car.

It's a frustrating track! Just when you think you have a bit of rhythm going you end up at a corner and have no idea where you should have braked!
