Engine Gone on 3.6 - 996
Discussion
I have got a Porsche 911 996 3.6 it is a 2003 reg car that has done 25k miles.
I have owned the car for 5 months without a single problem but then one day i started up the car and i noticed a tapping sound, so straight away i called up the company i got the car from (Riche in Harrow) becuase they gave me a years gold warranty with the car.
They stripped it down and said that the "bearing has spun on the cranck", and that was cause the piston to touch the top of the engine. He said it needs new engine and it should be fine with the warranty company because they cover engine bearings and explained the problem and they said they would get a "Independent Engineer" out to look at it. After looking at it on three seperate occassions they have now said that the problem was with the oil it was contamernated and that cause the bottom bearing to fail.
How can the oil be no good the car has only done 25k it has got full service history from new and had a service 5k miles before the fault developed.
Where do i stand with arguing it with the warranty company i have wrote them a strong letter stating i am not happy but they dont really seem to want to know. What can i do next?
If i really have to just to get the car back i will pay to get the bottom end rebuilt can anyone advise on who can repair the damage?
Really really stuck i havent had my car for nearly 2 months and need to know what to do now any advise would help thank you.

that excuse is b@llocks, if the oil was the problem then Riche should step in, I know them they are 1/2 mile from my house, must admit I wouldn't trust any warranty other than OPC! I am sure the sale of goods act may give you some come back to Riche. Up until 12 months ago all they sold was BMW's and Mercs, I looked at a GT3 CS they had in for a friend, they didn't even know it was a CS, despite the big blood Fire extinguisher, even argued with me, with my 3 sitting in their lot.
Not sure they are really specialists!

if the dealer or Warranty Company doesnt care ... kick up big, involve motoring media, shout, throw toys out of pram, so they either have to look after you ....or lose much much more.. They can turn a complaint into their best advert or not bother, name and shame them, Business reputation is everything today
sites as this will help lots, keep us informed... (p.s its not blackmail, just fairplay)

Well, a new engine is going to cost in the region of about £9-12K? So, I would get the car recovered to an OPC and spend money on a report that will give the real reason for failure. It may cost you a few hours labour but at least you'll have sufficient evidence if it isn't the oil which caused the failure (which I expect is highly unlikely).
I sorry to read about your engine problem steve I hope you get this problem sorted quickly and without cost. If garages want to sell high priced motors with good margins they should have the pros there to put things right,Its called customer service and with out that your have a very short business life
WMS Where ? Expose them and the dealer - remember he was the one making the profit on the car and the warranty
He was giving you peace of mind with the gold warranty where has that gone...make it a point that you are kicking up not just for you but for ours that could fall Used Warranties are not worth the paper they are written on unless they can in this instance prove me wrong....

dont be beat before you start it may take time, worry and stress to sort it, but 9k takes a long time to earn
and if you walk away, you'll just be allowing them to do it to someone else, stand firm (I once parked a car outside a dealer and signed it with the issues (Big Grahpics etc... it got resolve very quickly after that.. dont let them get away with it... if they want to cover cars like Porsche and ferrari etc they have to take the risks ..they take their fees quick enough...
