I see, a man in a pin stripe suit, with TAX MAN written on his head.

He says, thank you sir, that'll be £60.

I think he'd be happier with a
Donation of
60 quid than the points.

Is it about 33mph
Though?

Is what about 33mph, though? speeding is anything over 31mph, but the "soft option" is entirely discretionary, from force to force...

45 in a 40 and was done done done!!!

Pulled over by the BiB and was told I was doing 50, 'oh no I was not officer', 'oh yes you where' says the BiB.

Was told if I disagreed with what he was saying then I could go to court, which I did.

End result because I agreed I was 5mph over the speed limit I was given 3 points and wait for it ...........

............ a FIVE POUND FINE!!!ranting

Now I wonder what it cost to go to court as it only cost me £5 and amazingly nothing on my insurance.

I admit it was a few years ago but what happened was the court found in my favour because the police car had to overtake a van and a class 1 lorry before pulling me up and the distance he did this was so small that the only car going 50mph was the police car.

I was so shocked he pulled me up I was ranting but not at him. The funny thing is I was off to a mates house whos father was an ex police officer who was involved in the coach that turned over and he gave me sound advice.

ACPO guidelines for cameras are +10%+2mph so 35mph is the lowest speed at which the cameras should activate.

Are the same guidelines used for camera settings as might be used by plod though?

....and even then, they are only guidelines, not a reliable indicator of how a particular offence might be dealt with.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I assume not but OP stated fixed camera which is triggered only on speed...

I'd be suprised if CPS ran with a fixed cam case below guideline threshold...

Better still, all he has to do is go to court, show the bewigged gentleman that he is a fine upstanding pillar of society, and he'll be home before you know it with a fine cigar on the left, a scrumptious port on the right and an enthusiastic and awed missus down the middle.

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for brekkies.

BUT you can apply for a judicial review of the decision to prosecute contrary to the guidelines as you have a legitimate expectation that they will be followed......

So if you were prosecuted for 33 in a 30 how exactly would a judicial review help (when you read what the ACPO guidelines actually say, rather than what most people just think they do) ?
