Engine Bay protection
Discussion
Been doing some work on the car last few weeks under the bonet, have noticed some corrosion on some of the ali metal work and rocker covers oxidization produces a white powder. It cleans off with abit of polishing but what can I use to stop if from returning other than wiping the surface with oil.
I have noticed that a lot of new cars the engine compartment is sprayed with a semi oil like lacker substance which stays even with the engine heat, any ideas what this is.

Ive used Waxoyle thinned down with white spirit (untill its like milk) for years, It leaves just enough wax to keep the corrosion off, but can be cleaned off with engine cleaner if you want. Some of the water repelent sprays leave a waxy residue as well, but you need to keep applying them. I think the laquer you refer to is used by the auto trade to gloss up old engines, but I dont like it on the rubber parts, and I dont know how or if it comes off if needed.
