Fuel pump not priming?

Started the Griff at the weekend for the first time since London Thunder.

After 5 mins ticking over it stopped! I tried to restart it and noticed that the fuel pump was not making the priming noise it normally makes when you turn the ignition on?

I tried re-arming and dis-arming the alarm thinking it might be the cause but no joy.

I then thought it must be the fuel pump relay or a fuse but surely that would only fail on starting? why would it suddenly stop during tickover?

Any thoughts anyone?

I would put money on it being the Bosche fuel relays, change them both - same thing happened with mine a couple of years ago - same symtoms.

I had planned to do that but can only find one relay? a Steel cased Bosch 12V 30A 0332014112.
It is located in the wiring loom which connects to the ECU.

If there is another one I would assume it is identical?

They could fail at any time, and relays in particular are notorious for working when they're cold and then developing an intermittent fault as they warm up.

have you got a feed to the pump?

The location of the pump lends itself to a lot of debris. I had a similar problem with mine last year.

A quick clean of the terminals and a squeeze of the connector spades and it has been ok (also coated with copious amounts of vasoline)

had that prob several times last year. everything was absolutely ok. just the fuel-lead under the hood has gone off ! not kidding at all, happened approx. every 500 kilometers. but allways worked properly while driving the car. it was kind of a "good morning " phanomene. I drove the car into my garage and the next morning it didn´t start any more. curious things the griffs ;-)

All sorted! It was the fuel pump relay, thanks for the advice.....
