If i wanted to buy Blackpool Automotive, how much is it, who's dealing with the sale and what do you actually get?

There are ways of raising the funding, its just whats involved. Would i own the intelectural rights to the moulds, i just couldn't call them TVR's? I'm just curious as i would relish the challenge of turning it around.

I've searched PFK's webshite and there's no mention of it, someone must know who's dealing with it.

There was arumour that some model rights and molds had been sold. Don't know of the truth in that?

I would imagine you would get very little for your money now. I believe the administrators are dealing with the sale. Blackpool Council I believe are still very much involved in trying to get a sale. As are the NWDA

Ring PFK and ask. That'll give you the definitive answer.

And so, how much is Mr Smolenski involved in instructing or influencing PFK. How much information is in the public domain that should be and isn't??

I bet when you look into it BA is just the work force and its debts. The factory is still PRW ,the models IE tvr tuscan saggy cerb and so on still belong to NS .Like bmw with the mini cooper and so on .And if you tried to produce one of the former models as a production car your ass wouldn,t touch the floor till it hit the high courts.

I'll try and contact this Alan Tidmas today if i can, see if i can get some info. I'd be interested to know how viable it would be with a small facility and skeleton staff initially, as from what i've heard, the rent on Bristol Avenue is some 100k p/a? I'm thinking maybe the council will throw some money into it along with the government? I dare say some downsizing of the factory to sublet space to cover the overheads etc. The most important thing is sums, what margin they roughly had on each vehicle in order to ascertain what turnover is needed to cover overheads. From the preliminery figures, its going to take a lump of money to get something going again. From research i've done the last week or so, it seems current TVR owners want a circa 30k sports car, with the second model being 40k and the next no more than 50k. It all boils down to what the Tamora would cost to make as a basic model, thats the volume car in my eyes.

I'm gonna keep digging as i think there's something remotely possible to revive, its just what to call it, maybe PTR after Wheeler.

Great idea to see what you can make of it but I think producing a 'cheap' sports car in low volumes aint easy, particularly if it has an expensive engine like the S6.
If you were to produce the Tamora then I would suggest it needs some styling updates (in particular its butt) and a new name - otherwise it wont sell (the Tamora itself never really sold in any volume).

My understanding is they're now owned by Power, correct me if I'm wrong though.

I stuck this post another thread...

I have been following this sorry tale for the past couple of months now, and as I have only been a TVR owner since the summer but have resisted posting my thoughts until now. I know this has been covered a thousand times but...

I get the impression that their last/ current round of cars (Segaris, T350, Tuscan...) were just a bridge too far in terms of costs, complexity and TVR's inherent problem of bad press surrounding reliability did not help the situation.

My thinking on all of this is that did TVR miss a trick by not using a V8 from Jag/BMW/Audi instead of persuing the Speed 6 engine, and kept the cars simple a la Griffith?

The success of the Griff / Chim is, IMH(umble)O based on the fact that, amongst other things, the machanicals are reasonably straight forward, proven and reasonably cheap. Therefore keeping the cost of ownership down & allowing the home mechanic to get his or her fingers dirty.

I am very much part of the overwhelming majority that losing TVR in this way is criminal. I can only hope that in the not too distant future TVR will have a 'Made In UK' sticker on its bonnet again. In the meantime I'll be keeping my Griff shiney and clean and parading it proudly.

....This may be a bit of a wild shout, but if the IP (Intellectual Property) / Patents / Copyrights to older models (Griff, Chim..) would be available to a low volume manufacturer for a reasonable royality fee or agreement, using a modern take of the RV8, then viability allowing, you could maybe make a good fist of an updated of the above.

The thought had passed my mind.......................

I suspect that you would be buying a big bucket of debt and legal liabilities, a couple of rusty spanners and the Administrators fees.

I also suspect that they won't speak to anyone who couldn't show 'wad', assuming there are actually any assets.

If you have the £millions needed to turn it around and access to suitable credit lines then you would be better off speaking direct to the other side of the business.

I was planning to make some changes to the basic design to make it fresher, but thats way down the road.
If there's a business to make the bodyshells or to even assemble TVR's under licence, its all food for thought.

I appreciate what your saying, i have spoken with PKF and due to confidentiality matters, i have to be careful with what i say. But, i have various sources regarding sports car manufacturer as i've got very good contacts regarding engine supply and the whole logistical nightmare that will ensue. I would be looking to raise some private investment as this isn't the same situation as 1981, but i believe with the right people behind it there could be something there, not on the same scale at first but develop into.

It will be a week or so before they know what actual assets come with BA, until then, we'll wait and see.

Perhaps not the modern styled cars, but the Chimera/Cerbera car looks ageless (ok I'm biased).

But here's the start of the model range. A 30K two seater, with a 2+2 or 4 seater similarly styled?

As I understand from speaking to Dom , producing the older models could be problematic due in part to the new Euro regulations. I think that TVR used to produce Euro exempt models of which 500 of any one model could be produced in a year. However, that has now been reduced to 75 per year. Ok, it's probably more than NS produced IMHO

Joking aside, any new producer would be limited to 75 before incuring very large costs to achieve Euro5 etc. That limit does probably increase production costs.

However, I am sure there are capable individuals with design, engineering and marketing experience that could pull it off. After all that's the TVR spirt of win against the odds.

Best of luck.

So you thing.....DRA..... then?

It needs to be initials though, something about TVR sounds brutish, PTR would just seem right i think.

Have to admire your passion Rog, but I just can't see it being viable. Have you actually been to see what's up for grabs?

Slightly tricky at the moment matey, i'm stuck in New York welded to my computer. There's no way i'm making the 10 hour trip to the UK on a whim, i'll get other people to that for me. I'm keeping an open mind for the business aspect, there may be some confusion about what i want it for, but then again, thats my business and my colleagues. I have the feeling there's more to it than meets the eye, the more i keep digging the more i'm finding out about everything regarding the business affairs etc at Bristol Avenue, unfortunately, i'm bound by agreement on commenting on what i know so far, i don't want any legal eagles on my back.

Nice name by the way.
