I have an eldery friend who has realised the expiry date printed on his driving linence has passed three years ago.
How does one check without incriminating ones self that the licence is still valid and mearly hasn't been reprinted?
If it has expired how does one renew?

From your message i assume he is over 70. If so he will need re-apply for his licence in the normal way, but he will also need a medical from his GP stating that he is fit to drive. With regards to it expiring three years ago if he has never had an accident or stopped by Police in that time, all he has to say that he hasn't driven since then. I'm quite surprise his insurance company haven't picked up on it though.

Ooooo....errrrr.....methinks he may have to sit a new test
He needs to check the time limit on renewing the license.
If that time limit has expired....he will have to apply for a provisional after the mandatory gp tests.
Call DVLA for full details
