Can anyone please shed some light on how the transmission tunnel cover is attached as I need to remove it. There are no external signs of any fixings in the leather, so I'm guessing that it is somehow secured underneath. I can't believe it's just stuck on so I presume there must be some hidden fixings that perhaps can only be accessed by removing say the leather gear gaitor or the ash tray at the front of the cover.

2 screws at the front which you will have seen, sometimes a wing nut behind the ashtray. If you have the rear load cover then this holds the back of the console down and you have to gently persuade it up and out at the back before lifting up at the front. I found with a big of wiggling I had room to do what I needed (adjust the alarm sensor).

If you have no load cover then I guess there is some kind of rear fixing for the console too.

You've the old style tunnel cover.

Remove the ash tray and reach in. You'll find a wing nut.

The best way to remove the cover totally is to unbolt the handbreak gaiter from below and it'll come off real easy.
