where can I get a door mirror for my '84 350i ??

mine's gone all wobbly...and kinda limp in the horizontal plane. I don't know what it's off - it's black and ordinary looking. The electrics work fine it's just the pivot that's all slack and there's no way to tighten it. can someone help me get stiff again?

thanks guys - but still in the dark regarding where these early electric matt black mirrors come from - surely they must belong to some mass produced eurobox, with lots of potential donor cars languishing in breakers yards? non?

I don't think anyone ever found out what they were from. Several people have asked over the years, but no one seems to know... As you say, I reckon a good hunt around a breakers would find something suitable. The first cars were from 1979, so it must be something from that era. Maybe Cortina, or some kind of Austin? I reckon a British car of somekind.

Actually, I've never really had a close look at the mirrors on an early wedge, so why not post some close up pictures of them and see if we can once and for all identify them between us!? Google images would be a good place to start comparing!

Has anyone taken them apart? Any casting numbers present? Post some pictures up!
