Gallery Help Needed
Discussion
Hello All,
I've just recently taken on the task of updating an established gallery on a website/forum that I use. The gallery is embedded into the website, and each album shows the members cars, and also has a tech sheet listed below the pics. The tech sheet is simple a file called tech.htm thats put into the album folder on the webserver.
I've worked out how to update existing albums/tech sheets, but i'm stuck on doing new albums/tech sheets. I create a new album easily enough, but I cant ftp the tech, htm file into the folder as it says I dont have permission. When i look at the file manager in the Plesk tool (with host), it says the folders are owned by Apache.
I've spoken to my geeky unix friend who setup/runs the forum and asked him, and he said this...
Now my geeky friend knows his forum php stuff, but doesnt know anything about Gallery.
I'm wondering is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Geeky guy said:
You can't.
The gallery was installed by Steven (guy who set up website/gallery) and i think he installed it wrongly. It should be set up to run as the user 'mychosenname' but instead he set it to run under the webserver user. As a result it creates new folders that we can't access. was one of the reasons i said it needed updating.
What you'll need to do after creating every folder is email webshost support and ask them to do 1 of 2 things.
1, chown <user>:<group> <folder>
or
2, chmod 777 <folder>
With each of those you'll probably better off using the recursive flag (-r or -R).
Unfortunately because of the way Gridstar is set up we can't change much with out it causing us probs.
