hi all,

to outline, 3 crashes 18 months, many tears, not a lot of awareness. Help needed

i am looking for somewhere in or around brentwood, who offers post test refresher type lessons, mainly roundabouts and motorway driving. Company are prepared to pay for safety reasons more than anything, as it is driving a company 206 and really needs to be sorted asap.

thought id open it to the ph collective if anyone has any recomendations or is in this game. thanks a lot

Blimey! That's a serious problem!!!

My recommendation -

Sign the driver up for the IAM. £85. Bargain. It will take the driver a year or so to pass with regular drives and such so there will be quite a lot of continual instruction and such going on. Three crashes in eighteen months warrants an ongoing effort I think.

Equally good if more convenient to your area is www.roada.org.uk

This is not enough, however. The driver needs immediate concentrated assistance to look at whatever the main cause of the crashing is. Might just be crap at driving. Could be an attitude problem. Either way you need someone who does the "Pass Plus" kind of training. Can't really help there I'm afraid.

The guys on here who do advanced instruction for enthusiasts may also be suitable. They'll be pitching themselves at a different level than usual, though...

yep, professional help required - forced instruction. Just google to find an organisation that does advanced test tuition. Unfortunately (or maybe not in this case), H&S regs essentially insist that you do something pronto about a driver like this. Good luck.

If of any use we could get you one or more full days tuition down in Brentwood and we are DSA Fleet registered for providing company training.

However, it would cost you from £250 per day for us to bring an instructor in for him. Alternatively, I know one good instructor in Loughton -not too far away - who could help with ordinary passplus sessions. There may be a Borough discount available in your area too for PassPlus.

As gridgway points out the employer has a duty of care if driving is a necessary part of the employee's directed duties, so some form of risk assessment and management must be performed. We live in a litigious society.

This one!

Our group gets people through in everything from 2 months (a few) to a year. If they've been with us a year and haven't been put in for test there is usually something wrong.
