Early 390se

Back in the late 80's I went to look at a Wedge described as an early 390se prototype. I can't remember all the details of the car now, but think it was an 84 B plate car it was a mean beastie running on carbs finished in white with blue decals and blue hood IIRC it was a real bitsa with a mixture of early 350i and 390se parts. It sounded awesome and scared the shit out of me driving it down a wet leaf strewn road in Surrey.

Does anyone remember this car or know what happened to it?

Hmmmm...

I don't think there were many B reg 390SE's made. Streakys was one of them, and I also just found a review of another from October 1984. Its a light coloured 390 (B&W article) with the registration B527 TWY. I did a DVLA check and it states its yellow, although not been taxed since 1993. I know TVR had a very early yellow 390 as it appears on the press articles and brochures. Could this be the one you had, perhaps with a respray in its life?

One of my mates had a S1 390se which I think was an '84 (had a private plate) in light blue, Andy Rouse engine IIRC.

I remember years ago looking at a very early A Rouse 390 in white with a very faded (purple!) hood. It look well messed about with under the bonnet and rev'd like no other V8 I have been in. However the fact the owner red lined it stone cold put me off somewhat!

Danny that sounds like the car, I remember it up for sale a good few years later when somebody had spent a shedload on it.

It had fuel injection when I saw it, I think it was a flapper type.

I can't remember where the guy lived, somewhere west of London I think
