Would be grateful for some (rather basic) advice.

After reading about it on this forum took the plunge and decided to buy the mod-wise amplified aeriel. Aerial end no problem but can't work out how to get the radio out! Don't want to resort to the brute force & ignorence method

It's the standard Pioneer unit with a vertical slot either side. I presume a tongue shaped key slots in, latches something and out it comes...

Where can i get the necessary key - or what else makes a good substitute?

Hope everones' enjoying the warmer weather - had a great blast down to Guildford today

(hello to the Tuscan & pearl Chimaera i saw on the way )

If it is the usual Pioneer 5900/4930 with the two vertical slots, one at each end you will need two bits of metal 6.00mm wide, 1.00mm thick and 100.00mm long. Shove them both in and carefully pull the unit out by the cassette slot.

Thanks for the replies.

Tried various 'probes' but still can't get the thing out. If 100mm long is essential (which I don't doubt that it is} this would explain why.

Tiv's going in for a new battery tomorrow, so I'll ask them to take the radio out at the same time.

whilst youre now ok to get it removed this time, its best to get your own set of keys from halfords as previously mentioned.they only cost a couple of quid and dont chew up the edges of the slot on the unit front.its hardly worth the bother trying to make them imho.
