Just about to renew my insurance and starting the usual trawl round the insurers. Thought it worth checking what peoples current views on the best deals are.

A-Plan gave me a good quote (surrey, garaged, old fart, full no claims) but can't cover trackdays and as I do at least six a year that's critical for me.

Hagarty are weird; not interested in age, no claims bonus or model type and said it wasn't covered for theft if I left it on the drive during the day. When I asked if it was covered if I left it parked outside Asda in which case that's what I'd do they got confused and said 'they only covered nice drives out on a sunny day' at which stage I put the phone down. If anyone's interested they charge 10% of annual premium (£600) to cover any individual trackday.

I've still got to try Manning's and Sunninghill (who I'm currently with and cover any number of trackdays all inclusive, but their renewal premium keeps creeping up).

Anyone got any suggestions?

Give Tesco a go. Not sure about track days, but they certainly were the cheapest for me (inner London, parked on the street, 3 points etc)

I've just been throught that myself. A Plan came out top by a reasonable margin, better than Sunninghill and Mannings for me. I've only done a couple of track days and don't think I'll do too many this year so I'm happy to self-insure for those.

The main problem I had was that if your car is anything other than completely standard a lot of the mainstream providers can't cope. I have the usual suspects, nothing too wild (Emerald, Nitrons, spiders, HID headlights) but if there isn't a box for it on the form life gets tricky for them.

Just renewed mine 41 years old, £475 Adrian Flux as a 'modern classic' with 6K miles a year SDP and some business use.

Track days I believe were £90 each extra.

I moved my insurance last summer from Direct Line/Tescos (who at the time beat the pants off all the other quotes) to Mannings. Was paying circa £680 with 7500 miles limited policy, no trackdays. Now paying (IIRC) £650 with unlimted mileage and TVRCC or TDO? (track day organiser's governing body?) member arranged track days

The other point about DL/Tescos was that everything extra you asked for was charageable i.e didnt include European cover and was (IIRC) about £25 extra to cover it for Le Mans/France for 5 days. Had to get outside insurance from CCI for the one track day @ £150

I'm with A Mannings 40ish years old 3000miles a year £420, no track days though but it does say something about them in the policy, like if there TVR club approved your covered, or something like that.
I tried the Confused web search first they check with loads of insurers, but the cheapest quote from them was £800ish for the same cover! I dont think they can cope with something different.

I got mine through the TVR club, with ended up being with Allianz Cornhill.

7K limited mileage, track days covered so long as they are organised bt a recognisable group or TVR club. £408 fully comp, car has to be garaged at home between the hours of 11pm and 7am.

Absolutely brilliant when I had my windscreen broke. Tried to help me out, then had no problems with me going to another supplier rather than their recognised two, although I had to pay the full amount first, but the repayment cheque came in under a week.

Mine's under £400 now with a £100 excess. 6K miles, no track days. Outstanding for a Group 20 car.

£900 ish for me, 27, 3 years NCB, 5k miles a year. Opted for windscreen cover instead of trackdays.

Most events offer insurance for a few quid on the day and you're hardly going to get an insurance company to pay for a repair if you bin it on a track anyway are you? TP for other parties only I though,
