Just a small question!

Does anybody know how to achieve this effect without PSing?

The reflection, I mean. Not the cat.

Well, I like the watch photo. So there. hehe

The plexiglass idea is a good one too, thanks Scalper. beer

But - and this is probably a really stupid question now - how to go about lighting the shot without getting visible reflections? Are we talking softbox here, or is there some other trick?

This was on sheet of black plexiglass using a single light shot through a large diffusion panel just above the subject.

No tricks just careful positioning of the softboxes and let the backlights blow out to back light slightly.
