Hello all,

This corrado came to me before Christmas to see if anything could be do to revive it.
As you can see by the pictures below the car was in a bad state. As to how it got into this condition is unknown as the owner purchased the car in this state with a view to having a respray.

here is the car as it was--->

I almost told him to carry on to the body shop when he arrived laugh
The scratches in the 3 shots illustrates how bad the whole of the car was.
After a few test patches, its was clear that the only way to treat the scratches, would be to wet sand the paint.

Using W&D 2500grit i set to it.
as the roof was...

half way through wet sanding...

finished result....

After a full weekend of detailing, i only managed to finish the roof and bonnet areas.
The sides and bumpers still need sanding and finishing.

It has now been booked in again at this late date, due to the owner needing the car over the Christmas period.
So hopefully i will have some updates for you soon.

Jonathan.

That's a hell of a change. Looks like the last owner was using steel wool to polish with O_o

Child of a friend of mine once helpfully cleaned the whole car with a scrubbing brush dipped in neat Fairy liquid. The effect was similar.

Unknown as to how the paint became in this condition.. but yes sounds like washing it with bushes etc sounds about that. Also known swirl-o-matic drive through car washes to damage paint.

Fair play to you Jonathan, that is some work you have done there, paint looked a write off,i once had a prelude with a front wing that looked like that(wing had been painted)its like a paint fault,i would polish said wing and the scratches would go away totally and then slowly come back again, only that panel was affected(weird)possibly poor paint materials a painter said, not sure if you have the same though.

Thats interesting, i have heard of scratches etc coming back to treated paint before.

The paint is original VAG paint though. Also the scratches haven't come back *touch wood*

Interesting... I had a '92 Audi 80 in light metallic green with identical scratches all over the bonnet. Never knew where they came from (bought the car 2nd hand) and never did manage to get rid of them. I had assumed there was some defect in the original painting process, but who knows? Amazing job, wish you could have fixed mine
