Availability is the biggest problem with Konis.

That reminds me, I need to claim my raffle prize from Derek at simply shocks.

Then there will be a low mileage set of Konis up for grabs.

Place bids now!

I have had an email regarding my Koni's but have to say I am replacing mine after driving a friends 390se fitted with redline shocks (same as Avo's and Gaz). My car felt like a spacehopper in comparison.

I would therefore suggest yu get new shocks!

However if you want my second hand Koni's you are more than welcome.

What are the new shocks costing you? Are you replacing the springs as well?

Been thinking about doing this for a while.

cost me £266 inc. delivery for a full set of spax adjustables from www.motorsportworld.co.uk.
lot of brass same as GAZ though, worth it i reckon as they will last a long time, plus i will not feel like the grim reaper is sat in the passenger seat when i go round a bend.

Question -

It it preferable to relace all 4 shockers if you don't know the age of them ?
I have this on mine - the fronts definitely needs replacing but the rears look OK, still got the red paint on and look relatively new.

Thanks

same with mine except fronts are okay, i am going to sell them on ebay.
went to my local motor factors last night, they had a big box full of odd bushes, managed to find 4 that need trimming down slightly, i have one in already and they are sound.
cost me £4 for 4.
superb.
best to invent ways rather than paying crazy money from certain dealers.

hmm.....need to replace mine too - is it a straightforward job for both front & rear? have use of a full lift ramp which should help? or should I leave it to the professnials?

fronts are dead easy.
backs a little more tricky, as long as you have some spring compressors no problem really.
do it yourself, you get a feeling of greatness when the jobs completed and you dont get ripped off either.
knuckle skin may be lost also.
wife must make cups of teas on a regular basis and not complain when you in that bloody garage.
hold on i will have to go the bloody wifes shouting,
good luck dude.

As Bin Looney says, fronts easy. Problems with the back can include the long bolt which goes through the damper eye seizing (or the bush being corroded to the bolt). Copious amount of Plus Gas well in advance may help. The other difficulty can be accessing the top nut. I ended up putting a bend in an old spanner, but some people resort to chopping an access hole in the boot. If clearance is tight, you could also try slackening the two bolts which go through the boot to the chassis, so that the body can be very carefully lifted a little.
