Manual Steering Rack?

Am looking for a manual steering rack and saw in my search through old banter that l33 had one he was giving away? anyone know where it went? and if not where do we think my best bet is of getting one?

When I replaced the one on my old 280 (belongs to James now) I took it along to my local factor and they matched it up with one from a MK 4 Cortina. We checked the number of turns lock to lock etc and it was a perfect match. About £30 for a recon unit if memory serves, over 10 years ago though!

Depending on the problem it is possible to fix them yourself. There is a nylon bush at either end of the rack that usual wears first and they are not difficult to change.

Its got a mechanical grinding noise when approaching left lock and lube comming out the boots! Think it might be time for a new one. unless anyone knows otherwise?

As long as it is a manual rack, they are indeed Mk4 cortina and readily available for about £40 on a recon basis.
For the sake of £40, personally, I'd change it.
