right, I have had enough. The cats in the local area destroyed my previous cars paintwork but as I didnt care too much about it I let it go.

now they have taken a go at the TVR. by night, they have ripped the car cover to shreds to the point it has holes big enough that Mungo would be interested. by day, they have put 2 big scratches in the roof panel material on the targa tops. I polish the car saturday and now find a 3 foot claw mark down the bonnet where clearly the polish has meant loss of grip to the fing moggies.

The owner of the apartment upstairs told me previously his Beemer convertible required a bonnet respray due to these fers. I am really, really pissed off about the whole situation. The owner of said cats (or the ones I suspect) is the same old bint that complains if my music is on at any volume louder than a whisper.

and now just to top it off a new family have moved next door and as I type this the kids are kicking a ball around in the car park and its hitting my car.

right, I am off to tell the kids if the ball hits my car i will come out and puncture the fing ball and to tell the woman that if i see her cats on my car (or any cats for that matter) they will be shot.

can anyone advise on the best way to get these scratches out. Good 'ol T-Cut?

If the scratches are only light I would suggest Zymol wash then polish first as this works wonders on light scratches. There was a thread on here about scratches in the last couple of weeks and it was suggested to try another product(sorry name escapes me) "t-cut " was an absolute last resort

When I drove the van I use for work into the front wing of my car I used Mer to remove the scratches, the deep ones are still there but the light scratches came out no problem!

It always pays to remember that the real wheel arch of a Transit sticks out and it is at just the right height to remove the indicator lens

Mate, I know how you feel Hedge End is the cat capital of the UK. My next door neighbours cat is usually found in the recess between the rear seats of my cerb.

Here is my solution;

CATS: Buy one of those cheap ultrasonic cat scarers and stick in in the wheel arch, the boot, underneath, or anywhere when you leave your car. You can get them from Garden-centres and they are cheap and run on batteries.

Failing that, buy a gun.

KIDS: Go out and take them for a short blast in the car. They will love you forever and never touch your motor again.

Failing that, buy a gun.

Hope that helps

Buy a vicious dog. Solves both problems!

Same problem with thge wife's Skoda RS - I hate the fcukers. Keep a big bottle of water by he car and soak the feline devils with it every time you see them near the car. Failing this invest in a high powered air gun and shoot them. If they are dead they can't scratch the car!

Shit.. Not good on either.. Cat scarers do work, as does pepper spray and oddly enough Lion dung. Bit difficult to get hold of, but it scares the hell out of the cats.

Shouldn't this topic be moved to the engine section and renamed 'Decatting TVR's'?

I agree with Rob on this one. If you try and battle it out with the kids, you'll undoubtedly lose and have to go through all the grief. You can't watch the car the whole time, and it'll be an easy target if you turn this into some sort of conflict!

You're far better off winning them over and, potentially, actually then having them to keep an eye on the car for you. Besides, they'll probably make a special effort to keep on your good side in the hope of another ride.

Note of fairly obvious caution here - given the current paranoia about paedophiles, etc, offering little Johnny a ride in your car might not be the best solution to the problem, unless you've explained your tactic to the parents first! It's a sad world we live in, etc, etc.

Arse, did not think of that. It seems the only solution though. Bloody kids, in my day........

i am glad i posted my rant now! some helpful advice in there.

i had previously invested in some of the "stay off my lawn" cystal things and spread those around the car. The woman that owns the cats swept them up as soon as I went out might try the electronic advice. If not my trusty CO2 Beretta will be getting some more use.

I have spoken to the woman who replied "well it you are that concerned about your car then you should buy an apartment with a garage". I replied to this with "and if you were so concerned by my music you should buy a detached house". FFS.

on the kids front, a shout at them when i was out showing catwoman the scratch soon stopped any more ball kicking close to the Tiv. Perhaps you are right about the "taking them out for a blast" idea if anything persisted, although parental consent would probably be a good idea

Thank good I have a buyer for my place and the garage is going to happen soon. Alan - at least if I do move to hedge end it will be garaged so no more cats!!!!!!

It could be counter productive - if word gets round your have every kid within a mile radius kicking balls at your car....ouch!

I live in apartments with underground parking, now what i don't understand is that no-one in the appartments are allowed any pets of any sort let alone cats. So i have no idea where these barst**ds come from. But alas there is cat fur on the hood of my boxster (don't worry i am in the process of selling this for a tuscan only 3 months away from the deposit haha!)with scratch marks on the bonnet.
I found that the best way to prevent cats from sitting on the roof is to build a light weight pin board thing. On a bored sunday afternoon i took this opportunity to create a materpiece. What i did was buy a carpet the size of the hood and then i pushed a selection of pins, nails and screws through. Once i did this i got soft carpet underlay to cover the nail heads etc. After putting this on the roof of my car i no longer have problems with cats. Yes there was blood the first time i checked it on a Tuesday morning, and again on the wednesday. But now nothing. I think that the cats have learnt lession.
With regards to the scratchs i found that the Mer products really did get rid of it. hope this helps
