Any one know if you have to reset the immobiliser when disconnecting the battery, as after doing this i now have no ignition lights even though battery is fine.

It's not clear from your post that you have reconnected the battery. Obviously, I'm asssuming you have. If you have the Meta immobiliser you'll still get the oil and charge warning lights on, even when the immobiliser is set. I can't vouch for other systems, but I'd have thought they'd all be the same.

Do any electrical circuits work when you switch on the ignition? Check lights as an example. If not, I'd suspect you've only connected the starter wire to the battery positive post and not the accessory wire(s) as well.

The battery has been connected positive and neg, was not sure that there were any other leads to connect, there are no ignition lights and i only assume that the immobiliser had kicked in or a fuse has blown

Press in all the fuses & relays, its quite common to knock the rusty cruddy little buggers out of contact if you even breathe in this area :-)

Failing that check the ignition relay ~ its the bigger 70A one.
