I know the merits and drawbacks of Ferrari clones have been done to death both here and in general gassing... But I've just spent an entire evening reading up on a new kit made by a company called DNA of a 360 Spyder. Given that it uses a Mk3 MR2 roadster as a base the actual dimensions of the thing look pretty damn good to me, and the design of the roof is superb. No nasty foot-long spacers either as it has longer A-arms with adjustable suspension too. All the major kit car magazines are running reviews this month (I think). Anyway here's the link to the (long) thread on Kitcarsforum:

www.kitcarsforum.com/index.php?topic=7124.0

And here's a few taster pics:

Towards the end of that thread they mention that they've started work on some interior bits, starting with the doorcards...

Seems pretty damn good to me all considered! They also reckon they designed it to be as easy as possible to fit - 90 hours or so from start to finish, and about 12k-17k depending on what bits you fit. So, what's the PH verdict?

Edited to add: DNA are at http://dnaautomotive.com/home.html

I think it looks great, but personally as much as I'd love a 360 I wouldnt get one. No matter how it looks its not going to have a wailing Ferrari V8! And that for me is what its all about. Plus I'd feel a bit of a fraud. I'd rather wait 10 years if I have to and get the real thing. I think its a great looking kit though and if it was your type of thing then its got the added bonus of not having the running costs of the real thing

looks "" good" I'm sure when I would see such car I would say , look a Ferrari but would I buy one? nope...would I buy any replica, sure why not but then I'm thinking on lets say Ford GT40 or lotus 7 cars or some other great history classics but surely not a modern Ferrari.

the problem is in 3 years time everyone will be trying to bail out of them at half build price and even the quality conversion will struggle at 10k (quote 355) BUT NOT THESE KITS WILL BE IN PRODUCTION FEB 07 www.rallye037replica.com

I should'nt like the 360 but i do, maybe because they have been bold and not painted it red. It looks like a perfect 80% scale replica. But honestly, anyone who has heard a real 360 with a challenge exhaust fitted knows that this car will always be a dissapointment, even to bystanders as it goes past. Some people but sportscars to pose and make people feel envious, not caring about genuine performance. Like most girls who drive Ford SportKa's. Some people buy sportscars to drive and enjoy, feel the dynamics and adrenalin rush. If you fall into the former category, then the 360 may be for you.

As for the Lancia replica, awesome. I know lots of people have fitted Integrale engines to Monte-Carlos, so could be awesome. But try finding a straight Monte-Carlo... a friend of mine has the best Monte-Carlo in the country and it has to live in a centrally heated garage to keep the tin-worm out.

What's a Lancia kit got to do with this thread?

Stand corrected on the size, but a 360 looks massivly bigger / wider than a MKIII MR2 in the flesh. Maybe its an illusion, hope its not running massive offset wheels to compensate. Can play havoc with wheel bearings and handling.

As he said in the initial post, it has longer A arms, so no nasty foot long spacers.

Would need some decent sized brakes to go with the wheels IMO, the copy appears to be missing front disks altogether.

I thought these MR2 based replicas were made illegal recently due to copyright intrusion!

i saw the silver 360 at the mph motor show in oct and it looked really good, i didnt think it was a replica kit until the rep told me. the only downfall is that it built on mr2 would of been nicer with something more powerfull! i would to build one wolud have to fully cost it first ie all the extras that make it a "360"
