Well, I just booked a hotel for the weekend and now I am wondering if there really will be a race as the dates are provisional (and they have a GP date - I thought they had lost it this year?). Not been since the 80s and really looking forward to it but where to sit (if available)is a question? Are the grandstands any good cos when you get to my age you need to sit down.

We are staying in Malmedy which looks about 15 miles to the south east and arriving on Thursday.

Any thoughts and suggestions warmly received.

Thanks

PS. Not new to 24 hours races as this will be my 27th straight Le Mans.

I went over to the F1 in about '99 and ended up borrowing a spade from someone and literally digging a seat in the hillside on the entry to Pouhon. Grandstand seat is definitely the way to go! I suppose the best place will be the exit to Eau Rouge in the Gold-3 covered grandstand.

From what I remember there was a tunnel under Eau Rouge which gives you access to the centre of the circuit. For the 24h this could be handy for nipping around the forest looking for sneaky trackside views.

It was a bit like that when I went in the 80s. But I guess a lot of it has changed. I have looked on the organising club's site but they're not giving much away about anything.
