Used Computer cabinet

[vixpy1]

i need to lay my hands on a small cabinet for a PC unit (one of the ones that bolts into a rack).

Anybody know of a place that sells used ones?

[Plotloss]

eBay but they arent expensive new.

Do you know what height you need?

[vixpy1]

I guess the unit is 5 ish inches high, but i need to stack at least a foot and a half of smaller units above it (which don't need to be bolted in)

[Plotloss]

Sounds like a 2U case.

They start new at about £90

eBay will probably be cheaper, cheapest way would be to buy an old 2U server and throw the guts away probably.

?

Thats a rackmount, rather than a case.

Is that what you meant or a case?

[vixpy1]

I meant a rackmount i think..

[Plotloss]

Ah, wrong end of stick well and truly got hold of.

Thats not a bad price if it will fit all your gear in it.

I can get them a bit bigger, made out of wood rather than plastic and floorstanding. Bit more cash but nothing major.

[vixpy1]

Its for the computer that controls the dyno etc.. So i'm not sure wood will look.. well, industrial enough..

[Plotloss]

I can get metal as well but the price goes up massively.

The placcy job looks alright.

[vixpy1]

`i shall do a bit of measureing and order it up

Cheers
