I saw a Surrey Camera Safety Van, with the camera markings on the back, out on the M25 this afternoon.

Do they operate whilst on the move, or only whilst stationary?

Driving. As was I. Ermm, spiritedly shall we say. Obviously, when they're parked they're scamming, but do they do so when on the move too? Call me paranoid...

Me? Paranoid? I KNOW the bast4ards are out to get me....

OK thanks folks (PC version of Guys). But, in my own defense, Police Cars (whatever the correct term is) on the motorway clock your speed and they're moving. So a bit of ignorance and a little logic and a lot of paranoia = a post on PH....

And when I said 'spirited' I didn't mean fast ;-)

Thinking about it, don't motorway overbridges move a bit in the wind and so on? How can the cameras possibly be accurate?

It is nigh on imposible to operate an LTI from a moving vehicle. You can trust me on that!

I am sincerely relieved to hear that! Car was not feeling right/running lumpy so I was throttling back and opening it up to see what/where the problems were.

It was when I was opening up that I spotted the van. Gulp, heart in throat, throttle back.....

What they do is aim at you, then brake sharply to increase your closing speed on them, thus ensuring they can nip you even if you are below the limit. Clever huh?
