Late Cerbera ECU Lead

I have a 2002 Red Rose Cerbera and want to run the diagnostic software but my ECU only seems to have the later 3-pin connector, on the outside of the ECU at least. I haven't opened the ECU to look for a standard 9-way D-connector as the ECU case seems to require an odd size (2.5mm?) allen key.

Does anybody know the pinout of the 3-pin connector so that I can make up a lead?

I should add that two of the wires are white with a coloured stripe and one is plain white. As a last resort I could buzz them out to find which is the ground and put a meter on the other two to establish which is transmit but thought it safer to ask the knowledgable amongst you.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong - but open up the ECU box and inside is a standard serial connector, you can use a standard serial cable from PC world to connect it to your laptop.
I think I remeber someone saying the external 3 pin connector is used for re-mapping.

Thanks for the quick response.

I know that the 2-pin connector is for the OBD that nobody likes but I recall reading that the 3-way connector was wired to the serial port on later cars. That would be handy as it would prevent having to open the ECU each time I wanted to run the software.

I cant remember where, but this has been covered before, if you do a search the pinout is here someware, somone has even said that you need to remove one of the rear light connectors and use it to make up the lead! Its not to hard to work out with a multi meter, like you have said, find the earth then with the other 2 one is clock and the other is data, if you get them the wrong way round you wont kill it it just wont work!

You can buy a cable from Clever Trevor, it costs about £40. I did that for my friends 2001 4.5 lightweight and it worked fine.

About the software (I got the old version from Headcase, thanks again), there is a guy on the Tuscan forum that say he has the newer version of the software, I have tried to mail him but I don´t get any answers, maybe it is my mail that look suspiciuos since I am from Sweden ?
Maybe one of You guys can try to get the software from him, and send a copy to me . He calls himself Lowest on PH. See attached tread:
