Jagged type on IMac in QuarkXPress using OSX
Discussion
On my old Mac running system 9.x, I think had something called Type Reunion or something - can't remember the exact name - anyhow, now with the iMac and OSX, is there some little gizmo I could download from somewhere that will give me decent type on the screen. The one on the old Mac was beg, stolen or borrowed over time ...
Anyone on OSX - what are you using? I've lived with this problem for a while now and am fed up with it really!
Maybe it wasn't Type Reunion - I think that puts the fonts into folders ... the name escapes me - is there a version for OSX floating about?

Looks like you're running Quark under classic, in which case you still need 'ATM' (adobe type manager) in your control panels of your classic system folder. Think an extension is installed too. Not sure were to find it but have a google, look on Adobe or Apple support.... or I'm sure someone will be along shortly.
Adobe Type Manager - that's the fella!
Thanks. Can't remember how I came by it with my old Mac but I think I ran Suitcase at one point as well ...
I no longer have the old Mac ...
Yes, using Classic really, not OSX and wait for it, Quark 3.32
Bacardi: How did you know I was running Quark under Classic? If you run a later version under OSX does it do it automatically or something?

From ol' Wiki:
Around 2001, with Apple's Mac OS X (and Microsoft's Windows 2000 and XP), support for Type 1 fonts was built into the operating system using ATM Light code contributed by Adobe. ATM for Mac was then no longer necessary for font imaging or printing.
Adobe discontinued development of ATM Deluxe for Macintosh after Apple moved to Mac OS X. Adobe in 2005 ceased selling ATM Deluxe. ATM Deluxe does not work reliably under OS X (even under Classic). ATM Light is still helpful to Type 1 font users under Classic, however.
So it's ATM Lite I'm after ... off to search.

Glad it all worked out.

Easy to see the striped window bar. Later versions just run natively under X, no need for classic.
Just be aware (if you decide to go on a spending spree), that classic doesn't run on the newer Intel macs. Although it is possible with a piece of software called sheepshaver. I haven't tried it because it looks to much trouble to set up. I'm hoping someone will bring out an easier solution. I have just one app which I need classic for and there is no alternative.
