Grand Prix Legends installation problems

Eventually got round to installing GPL on my PC (Windows XP) again after about three years. But I'm having problems.

During the installation I get: Could not install wininet.dll - but then the installation appears to proceed ok.

After I've installed it and re-booted, I get the following messages:

Can not find "glide2x.dll" and "redline.dll"

I seem to remember there was a fix for this on the net somewhere, but I'll be blowed if I can find it.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Its been a while since I did it but is this not a problem that can be overcome by dowlaoding the patch which 'modernises' the game?

That rang a bell with me, glide2x.dll is a Dll file for an old 3DFX (Voodoo) graphic card which I dont think you are using. As above install the updates and try again.

Thanks for your help. I ran the patch as suggested, but I'm still getting the same crash-to-desktop problem right after the opening screen.

I've re-booted, turned off Norton and my screen saver, but still get the same problem.

The only other thing I can think of is that, when I'm installing the program from the CD, I get a message advising me to uninstall "Active Movie" - like i know what that is! :-)

It's now officialy driving me nuts, as I had GPL running nicely on this machine a few years ago!!

Ask on the forum I posted above, they are very helpful and knowledgeable. It's a long time since I installed GPL to know what the problem might be.
