(clicky for a bigger version)

Its very strange, the surface of the paint is still smooth across the white and brown faded bits and it's still as shiny as the rest of the paintwork... Just the wrong colour.

I imported the car from Japan and its been like that since I got it, so I've got no idea as to its history or how it got there.

Any ideas what would cause something like this? It'll need repainting now in any case

hi there, can't really tell from the shot tbh, is it under the lacquer? can you feel it, ie the edges etc?

Also i know a very good painter in Preston if you would like the contact.

Thanks
Jonny

Its under the surface of the paint, there's no rough edge to it and its got a smooth surface.

The light reflects off it the same as it does the surrounding paint too, its not dull. You can just see in the pic that the area surrounding the actual white streak is brown too, it's either been attacked in the same way but not as severely or someone has had a go at removing the white mark and almost cut through the surrounding paint.

Recommendations for paint shops in the NW are welcome thanks

Thanks folks, brake fluid is what my local bodyshop said too, apparently if it's sprayed over it'll just come back as the fluid seeps through the paint somehow, so it'll have to be taken back down to the metal.
