I’ve just had a look at a Boxster S 03 facelift car from a very reputable independent specialist this morning.

Bottom line is that the car apparently came from an OPC in the December stock shift having been prepared by them, to the point where the seller is certain that one phone call and an appropriate cheque from him will secure an OPC warranty (my main condition on my next car having seen and experienced a little difficulty before with insurance type warranties!)

It has a colour coded separate hardtop. 47,000 miles Lagoon Green Metallic with black interior, partial leather and heated seats. Automatic climate control. Headlight pack including cleaning system. On board computer. Porsche CDR 23 radio, Porsche Sound Package with digital amplifier. Porsche Stability Management (PSM), Top tinted windscreen, three owners. My untrained eye would say it's in very good to top condition miles and age wise and it drives beautifully.

Anyone care to suggest a sensible price? I’ve had a good look about (okay an hour surfing on Classifieds here and the usual suspect’s sites) but can’t see anything that is really comparable.

FWIW I know there will be some that would suggest I’m sticking with hairdressers cars but I love having the top down, don’t really like the look of the 996 cab (and can’t really afford a goodie (sorry Rob)) and there isn’t anything else out there that will give me what the Boxster will short of a Tiv and we already have one of those in the family to play with!

dont be sorry to Rob he positively salivates at the thought of owning another Boxster.

I am not completly clued up on Boxster prices at the mo, although the colour is not run of the mill and {possibly} the reason why the OPC didnt retail it.

The spec you have described is fairly standard S save for the HT heated seats and litronics.

Beware - make sre you have plenty of room for hardtoop storage as I dont think you will be using it much, even in winter once you have them heated seats warming nicely

I get what you are saying about the colour but that's part of what attracts me to it, it isn't like any of the others in the area

As for the hard top I'm assuming that I'b be able to get hold of a stand for it...

Make sure you buy it at the right price as if you want to get rid of it in that colour the trade bids will be lower than in something more "mainstream"

23-24k given mileage and colour combo. Stock shift means OPC couldn't sell it, there is a lot of choice out there so you really need to have an incentive to buy one in that colour, rest assured when you come to sell a dealer wont be so enthusiastic about car then.

23k from an indy if it was black or silver

if you like the green its a bonus for you but I would bid 2k under the above as everyone else will when you come to resell (and reselling will be much harder than a popular colour)

Yup, getting it serviced in early Feb and then it will be going up in the classifieds - but it'd be available now if a knowledgable buyer was to make me an offer.....

Opps, why was it I thought Sleepy had bought it paperbag

Hmm, I'd love to think I was in a position to make to a sensible offer but suspect that the figures wouldn't add up for you, as well as the fact that I'd still to sell my car somehow, unless you'd like to trade down to a 2.5 Box (thought not hehe)

Hmm, 'Boxing Alltorque' is there no end to nervy's fetishes? And there we were lulled into thinking we were safe with you preoccupied with the study of Drs front bottoms, the truth will out once more.

Cheers for the heads up though, still wish I’d been able to get my stuff together to get to the car before him in the first place.

In my job I’ve had to make some pretty hard decisions and calls in my time but the last 48hrs have caused me more indecision and worry than I’ve had in years. Hell I even had a sleepless night which NEVER happens to me!!!

Sad to say I’ve just had to turn the deal down. The price was £2k less than anything else I found after about 10hours searching on the net and I have the money in the bank ready to spend but I just can’t afford the potential depreciation hit over the next 12mths. My un-educated reasoning is that there will be a number of 3.2 987 S’s coming on the market very shortly/over that time and the supply of loaded ‘normal colour’ 986S’s will increase. I’d be able to justify the hit if I honestly though I’d have the car for 2-3 years but I suspect that something else might appeal to me by then.

In the meantime if anyone is genuinely interested in getting more details on the car I was looking at please feel free to PM me for the dealer’s details as he really is the top bloke Nervy said he was and Henry-f mentions on his site.

Not had any hesitation in asking him to carry out the service work I was originally taking mine there for plus sorting out a few other little bits an bobs I wanted done as it appears she’ll still be mine for the next 6mths at least.

Thanks for the help guys, no doubt i'll be back for more the next time hehe

ok, to clarify rudey was talking about Matt from autowerke selling the boxter, whom id recommended to rudey ages ago for servicing, not All Torque's car.

sorry rudey, you had me confused there for a sec, i knew you wouldnt have looked at AT's car and not wanted it.
