At some point before the decent weather eventually arrives, I've got to get the GT through an MOT. Shouldn't be any problems due to it having just got back from the factory, but one area I am not too sure about is emissions. It has no cats on it at the moment, and I was wondering if this is likely to cause a problem for the MOT. I have the cats in a box in the garage, but I don't want to go through the hassle of fitting them to get through the MOT and then taking them back off afterwards if I don't have to.

Can anyone advise if the car is likely to pass the emissions test without refitting the cats?

The think the MOT testing rules are, if car registered after Jan 1st 1993 car must have an emission test. If yours is older you can keep the cats off, otherwise they will have to be fitted so you can get the car through an emission test.

It's a 2000 model, so I know it's due an emissions test, I was just wondering if it would get through without the cats.

I have to do this every year with the Cerb Lisa. It may be a Royal PITA but the aural benefit is worth the hassle

I've got a friendly MOT station, if they can see the cats and the emission reading would clearly be OK with them fitted, he's always given me a ticket without having to physically fit and remove them.

If you get stuck pm me!

not the same car, but i have a lotus that came with both a cat and a bypass pipe, it won't go through the mot without the cat fitted, it takes me hours to do this, and my gain is only small with the bypass fitted but worth it. taking it to mike maybe your best option.
