It seems that Big Ron is aiming to emulate Blair & Co and become one of the biggest pratts on the planet.

There is a precedence. Between 1977 and 1984 Williams had a blamket ban on alcohol in their team. This was because they were heavilly funded by Saudi Arabian backed companies - TAG, Saudia and (yes really) Bin Laden.
Poor old Keke Rosberg, Clay Regazzoni, Carlos Reutemann and Jaques Laffite had to make do with bottles of milk and orange juice whenever they made it onto the podium.

no wonder so many people enjoy motogp more these days? those guys have personality and look like they are enjoying themselves! i guess you can express yourself on a bike much easier. i am so glad rossi stayed put but then he has a title to win back!....

The irony of all this is that Ron Dennis & Co had a report done over the winter months into their 'brand image' and it came back that most of the public thought them to be cold and unapproachable, and he said that after reading the results, 2007 will see a new face of Mclaren...
Errrr that didn't last long then, just like every other New Years resolution then. Back to the old grey corporate cold image. I'm shocked to read in Autosport that even Red Bull are planning on turning down the 'fun factor' this year!!!
When will the F1 bods realise this is exactly what we want. Red Bull in 2006 was a breath of fresh air, with DC being able to swear and say what he liked to anyone, I guess his personality will be locked away then like everyone else on the grid.
Role on the F1 masters, at least they are seen to be having fun both on and off the track...

That may be, although I can't see how the sport was improved when one of its stars made an ass of himself in public after he had had too much to drink.
Your missing the point, I'm not saying that all drivers should be out of their heads away from the track, but the sport needs personalities, real humans and not just another set of cardboard cutouts that are paraded out each race weekend to keep the corporate sponsors happy.
It's time the big players started to offer something back to those people that are critical to the sport - the spectators and fans. With TV viewing figures falling year on year and more and more circuits overseas finding it harder each year to fill seats, the alarm bells are already ringing.

Fair point, although I am less interested in exciting personalities and "lifestyles" and more interested in exciting racing. Not that the lack of that is the team's fault - we can thank Max and the Minions for the boring racing.
Okay so you are most of the way into the season and Alonso is 20 points clear with 3 races to go. A week before the next race Fernando is photographed knocking back a cool beer in the Autumn heat. You’re big Ron. Are you really going to sack him? Fine him? I think not. What a waste of space dictat. I’m all in favour of the extreme professionalism shown by team but this has to be one of the most stupid utterances ever to slip from his lips. Sorry Ron, I think you’re a prat in this instance.
