Oil consumption

Hi all

I've got a 2000 boxster s and since purchase a few months and about 1200 miles back (when it had a full belly of oil) according to the dipstick (cue funny jokes about my motoring knowledge or lack thereof) its now down to within a few mm of the minimum level mark - should I be very worried and having it looked over asap rahter than topping up with the seemingly industry standard mobil 1?

If it makes a difference I do only drive a few miles to work and back during the week (althoug i try and give it a longer run on the way home a few evenings a week?).

All advice greatly appreciated.

Mine gets through it as well,i know that does not help but i only had a new engine 20,000 miles ago so not too worried.

Thanks - maybe its the colour that causes it
