I originally had 16" spiders on my previous Tuscan, and swapped to 18" after 10K miles. There was not a noticeable difference in handling of the car although I did have Nitrons fitted shortly afterwards due to the O/E shocks being too soft for my liking. However the grip is much better with the 18" wheels fitted as the tyre size is much bigger 245/235 for 18" & 225 for 16". When fitting 18" wheels you have to also fit steering lock stops which further reduces the turning circle, but it's a small price to pay for the better looks & improved grip.
Thanks for that i was just wondering because someone i know had 16 on his and then went to 18 and said that it was a real difference and was not the same car.also he said with 18 on and driving on the motorway it tended to vear off and sort of became as if it was stuck in like a tram line ? odd i know

That is possible if the geometry is not set up correctly & does become more noticeable with the 18" wheels
I went from 16 to 18. Didn't really notice much difference in the handling. It was always a bad driving experience in those days. I had a couple of serious trouser changing momments due to tramlining.
HOWEVER, i had the suspension upgraded to adjustable nitron shocks, combined with new bushes and corner weighting. This transformed the handling and turned the Tuscan into a 'friendly' and usable ride/drive.
Can be done complete for about £1200 + Vat and is worth every penny.

Not sure what checks there are. I went on other peoples recommendations. I knew i had a tramlining problem, i had nearly stuffed the car twice because of it. I didn't want to pay for a full geometry set up without new shocks and bushes, i was told this would be a waste of money.
The £1200 + Vat got me the parts, installation and full geometry set up with corner weighting. For me i have never looked back (other than the rear view mirror to see the poeple in my wake.....
