Q. re AP calipers and ford Disc conv.

Hi everyone, Hope your new year has started well. I have a question for all who have done the AP caliper conversion. Does your brake pad's over-hang the disc?
I have converted my 200 to the 4 pots, they works well, even fitted them inside a 14" wheel (just) but the pad overhangs the end of the disc by about 4-5mm, as they wear it will leave a lip on the end of the pad. Have I bought the wrong vented disc? I asked for a 2.8 granny vented, as described in the instructions on wedge pages. My local garage reconds I need a larger disc, the caliper would take one.
Am I alone or is this the same as the rest of you?

I have heard tales aplenty of the same issue, so I would say yours is the same as all the rest. As long as you don't let the pads wear to the point where they meet (or let the discs get so rusty they rip the friction material off) then you should be OK.

Yep, think this is normal for this setup. Personally I wouldn't be happy with this but each to their own. This was one of the reasons I put on 15" wheels and got hold of a second hand set of the original AP Bells and rotors as fitted to the bigger Wedges.

Yep, thta sounds about right. BUT, its very hard to get the larger discs these days.

Going to go for an ally caliper conversion when mine are finished.

Thanks for that. I will grind the spare bit of for now, on the lookout for larger disc's. Toys are for playing with...
