My car is Chianti starmist which is almost black. The problem I have is smearing ie different tones left by the polish.
The only one that I found was any good was one that I got from the pound shop!!!. Spookily enough it had a Chimaera on the label. They havn't got any more.
Recommendations please

I used to have similar problems using resin polishes on my Griff(starmist blue).I now use the P21 system from the polishing co.The carnuba wax is excellent value for money,it gives an amazing glossy shine, and lasts a long time.If you use the cleanser as well occasionally,it really is a brilliant systemthumbup

Oooo! Can of worms!

I was planning on switching to PS21 from Meguiars (which I am very happy with BTW, just fancied a change). But Meguiars, Mother's, PS21, and if you're feeling flush one of the Zymol treatments, will all do a decent enough job for the money.

Put a Polish on the car, give it some time to dry then buff off, then coat with a good Carnuba Wax for protection.

I agree, IMHO P21 carnuba wax is excellent, especially if you use the cleanser first. Don't use too much P21 as it takes forever to polish off if you do.

The coloured wax is good as any white polish gets stuck around the edges of the stone chips and looks a lot worse.

If you're getting swirl marks - do you do the following:

1. Clean the car well with a decent shampoo (I think the Carlack stuff is meant to remove traffic film etc)
2. Clay the car
3. Polish using separate, good quality microfibre cloths to put the polish on and buff off
4. Wax, again with separate quality cloths (and not the same that you polished with)?

You need a small detailing brush to take the built up wax with...
