I am currently a 2nd year student at Glasgow Caledonian University studying International Business and I'm looking for interesting work experience over this coming summer. I can be based in Glasgow or Northampton easily, and will be available from May to September, excluding 2 exam days in May.

This is just an initial post to see if there is any interest. More information is available on request or I can be contacted by email through my profile.

Good luck finding something. Might I suggest you openly detail why a Business might want to invest time (remember it equals money) in taking you on for the period? Good idea to list your achievments and also short-term ambitions too.

The most important qualities I could bring to a business at the moment would be enthusiasm, a willingness to work hard, and a willingness to learn. I actively seek out leadership roles and positions of responsibility. This year I have continued in my role as class representative that I began in first year and I am also taking part in the Caledonian Leadership Program which helps to enhance existing leadership qualities in students.

In the past I have enjoyed and excelled in both sales and customer service environments.

For the right opportunity, I would be willing to work for free initially to prove that I have the capability to add value to the business.

Just to update this thread:

I have found a position in a Glasgow Caledonian University backed programme called EDGE (Encouraging Dynamic Global Entrepreneurs) in partnership with Scottish Enterprise, Careers Scotland and Universities in Canada and Poland.

For anyone that is interested, here is a little more about the programme:

The EDGE Programme said:
The eight week programme includes:

A two week immersion programme, learning about entrepreneurship, enterprise leadership, cross-cultural teamwork, consulting and economic development.

Six weeks in mixed teams, supported by industry experts, working on 2 consultancy projects for small and medium-sized enterprises in Scotland to help them implement strategies and plans for growth and development and a business plan for your own start-up.

A range of cultural activities, where you will act as a host to students from Canada, USA and Poland. This includes various outdoor activities, visits to prominent Scottish institutions and dinners with influential guest speakers.

So although this thread did not provide any leads for me, it was only one avenue I was pursuing and I'm happy to report that I've managed to find this great opportunity!
