Hi guys
I got a D200 3 months ago and have now got the bug
I want to get a proper tripod and ball head - look at some nice prime lenses etc

Go to Tottenham Court Road...I ended up buying my Camera in ASK, but there are quite a few shops to browse in.

Cheers guys
Regarding Grays - looks great but when I called them they said they did not stock tripods as they were not made by Nikon!
In terms of looking for a good tripod - have you any recommendations, and is a ball head they way to go?

Thx

After lots of looking around I settled on a Manfrotto 190CL with 804RC2 head - blew the budget to buggery but it seemed to be so much nicer/better made than the Slik and Velbon items I'd been looking at, (at lower prices) not to mention the budget brand stuff! Can't wait for the opportunity to get out and start using it.

Edited to say: Park Cameras were very helpful, and competitively priced, though we ended up buying from Jessops online in the end.

ah!

Good man

Just search Manfrotto and see where your budget leads you.

You won't go wrong (unless you spend the GF's housekeeping)

The camera was a wedding gift from the wife
But between time spent on this forum, and discussions of further expenditure in terms of lenses and tripods, it could soon be part of the divorce settlement !

Thirded. I bought my 400D from ASK, and haggled a decent deal. Only problem was the Tamron 55-200 box contained the lens and a sigma lens hood rather than the Tamron one, which probably suggests it was a return. The camera was a kosher UK one though.
