Roughly what do you think I could get for my 04 CV8 with 22K on the clock

C/W Wortech Sport Pac (with interchangable exhaust) HSV alloys and hard wired Tom Tom 500 (spare set of original alloys also if a little scuffed)

Unfortunately might need to get rid due to work closing down and relocating to Birmingham.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Recently bought my 04 CV8 on a 05 plate with a wortec exhaust pack and 13000 miles on it for 19000 pounds. Similar ones on the showroom were slightly more than that. Hope this helps in some way.

Less than £16000 I expect, given what is currently for sale on PH classifieds.

From my experience I think you're gonna be pushed getting more than £15K

Forget the mods, they seem to have little or no value in a private sale judging by what I found (and what people have said on here).

It's more a case of being lucky to have somebody close by who really wants one - when I had mine up for sale (in London) I saw a whole bunch of same or lesser motors go becasue buyer and seller were in the same part of the country, while I only had a few nibbles.

Happily I'm now keeping it - hopefully circumstances will allow you to as well....

To be honest it is the best car I have ever had

Don't want to get rid either but I might have to commute between Nottingham and Birmingham each day and fuel alone makes it unviable.

So I am undecided so that is why I am getting some advice why I can.

Very few people want a std car these days, the mods will make it more saleable and hence more money can be asked as most will spend on mods anyway. Not the original value, but certainly more than nothing. I imagine the less extreme the mod, the greater the number of people would want it.

The modifications will have a value on a private sale but absolutely zero effect on a trade in or trade value.

Advertise at £16,500 ish and see what happens, prices can be changed on auto trader at any point so if you get zero response in over a week re-think the price.

Also bear in mind its not the best month in the year to try and sell anything let alone a car so if you can hang on 3-4weeks before advertising I would recommend doing so.

From a purely financial point of view your best bet is to sell the mods and swap for standard parts with a member on this site. Wortec exhaust will unlikely gain you a better price than any other of of its type but would make it more desirable to prospective buyers. To be honest it doesnt matter how much we try to cover it up the vauxhall Monaro just isnt desirable enough to the majority of car buyers. Whether that be badge snobs or fuel tramps who knows, but luckily for people like myself its a buyers market for the Monaro not a sellers. Dont shoot me down though just because you all own a Monaro. Its because of these reasons that i'm buying one

They do add value to an aware dealer.

Your probably the only one in the country that would pay a slight premium or get the car nearer to book than it would be without them.

99% of the time they wouldnt add anything to any dealer, plus if the owner doesnt want another Monaro or anything in the vauxhall range you wouldnt be able to help!

does this mean you are about to im an acceptable order to the gent?

or 'suck air through teeth, tut, shake head, comment on colour, heavy fuel economy, difficult market and then offer £10k?'

You forgot the deep sigh, the service is due in 8 months, the tax in 6 months and all the tyres have less than 20mm of tread on them!

Sample car dealer prose....

To seller 'black is a bugger to keep clean and we struggle to sell them for that reason'
To buyer 'it looks best in black'

To seller ' with the v8 its a limited market due to thirst'
To buyer 'with the v8 its so grunty that you dont need to rev it, meaning reasonable economy'

To seller 'its going to need a service in 6 months'
To buyer 'it doesnt need a service for 6 months'

To seller 'the tyres only have 4mm left'
To buyer 'the tyres are good and have 4mm left'

Etc
