Been awhile since I posted on here but hope you can help. Anybody know where I can get ahold of a Chimaera rear 16" 5 spoke wheel, new or second hand, don' matter so-long as it's in good nick.

Pretty cheap from your friendly dealer £150 IIRC

Or try some of the TRV breakers, douglas valley, (peninsula used to do a lot of second hand spares)

They don't make them any more..... sorry. I just buggered three of my wheels and had to have the lot replaced with Speedline's from Peninsula as they were unobtainable.

I know an owner who needed one rear rim and I put him on to a bloke who had two, which he bought. If you are stuck I can try and track him down and find out if he is willing to sell the other one (if he still has it) if that is any help.

With regard to replacement wheels, assuming you can find some that look ok and fit the car, how can you tell they're going to be up to the job?

Thanks,

Steve

Do they just bolt on then? I thought the width and offset was different at the front.

I have 7 spoke 16" Griff wheels front and back. You have to fit rack stops and put up with similar turning circle to a 747, no problems other than that. Correct front tyre size 225/45ZR16, rears 225/50ZR16 or 245/45ZR16.

I have fitted 16's to the front of my Chimaera, not only does it look much better but it transformed the drive (also fitted avo shocks all round)

I've fitted 17s all round and nitrons and it doesn't compare to how it was, so certainly worth doing. Sadly the brakes look a bit sad now.

16"s not too expensive from Blackpool

I've got them front and back - back looks a bit small, but can't get 17"s the same - leven industries here in newport (Gwent) have a neat bit of kit to convert to 5-stud thingys - getting spiders next!

Anyone tried 225/40ZR16s on their 16 inch fronts? I see it's a size Toyo offer ...

On a related note. To those going to lower profile tyres, are you sticking with bridgestones or going to toyos or something similar instead. I recall that S03s in lower profiles on cerb, tuscan etc caused issues because their sidewalls were stiffer than those on S02s.

Just interested,
Thanks,

Steve
