Alternative characters/symbols on a keyboard ?

I need to type a 'tick' on an online application form , are there other characters/symbols available, something like by typing 'shift' & key X gives you a 'tick' ?

Depends what font you are using, but if you go in to 'Character Map', choose your font it will show you the symbols associated with it.

likley hood is that it wont work on an online form.

I found a tick under charactor map (Start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > character map) and the font Bookshelf Symbol 7

After a bit of experimenting I found I cant use the characters on a post here on PH , but they can be used on a word document which is what the application form is in , result
