Not a bad Birthday Present from the Missus...
Discussion
... that is Birthday July 2005 - it's taken almost until now to get it all sorted and running properly!
Not long after getting the Griff, I took a fancy to Mr Lamont's Carbon fibre multi-throttle intake systems, but hesitated because I wasn't sure if carbon fibre was entirely in keeping with the venerable Griff. Then I came across the alloy twin throttle plenum from the Rover SD1 vitesse touring car homologation special, and had to have one. As luck would have it, one came up on eBay not long after, and I managed to grab it - better still, persuaded SWMBO to buy it for a Birthday pressie - a snip at 650 greenbacks - or so it seemmed....
One ported inlet manifold, set of new (bigger) injectors, new (bigger) airflow meter, Tornnado chip, custom made throttle cable, rebored, refurbished and polished twin plenum, new butterflies and one rolling road session with Mark A (great guy) later (not to mention about 3 grand lighter) I was back on the road.
Strangely, I think it was worth it - only about another 20 bhp (at the wheels), but fantasic throttle response, and I have to say I love the way it looks - but I must own up to being an engine bay tart (I know the rest is scruffy, but I'm starting from the top down in the best engineering tradition). Anyhow, here's a picture (before it was polished) so you can all tell me if you love it or hate it... (runs to hide).
