Speed cameras - A14 Cambridge / Milton?

Now, I am either complete mad or something has gone seriously wrong! I posted a week or two ago asking about the type of camera that I spotted being installed at the A14 Cambridge / Milton junction. Big poles with cameras on the top, flanked by what seems to be big InfraRed sensors... anyway the concensus was SPECS.

However, been up there in the last couple of days and they are all gone! WTF? Dont understand - there was signs saying "Speed cameras not operational" and all of the installation gear there - now nothing, no poles, no cameras, nothing??? Whats going on? Anyone know what the deal is?

Could this be a case that the correct procedures for getting speed cameras installed werent followed and therefore they were removed? Any suggestions?

Or am I completely mad and imagined the whole thing?

I heard they were temporary one's put up and activated when the road works were there. However, I also heard that there had been some protest over the bridge that was going in over the A14 from Milton to the Science park so it's all stopped.

Quite glad that they have gone actually as I thought they might spread all the way down to Bury!
