Super Aguri Car Fails FIA Tests!

Bit of a shame given their recent performance:

If it failed the rear crash test as suggested, then you'd think that Honda may have similar issues considering they'll be using the same gearbox etc.

Yeah, but apparantly not. I really hope this isn't a major problem for the small outfit, their pre-season performance to date has been nothing short of remarkable!

You would imagine that Honda wouldn't put through the same design knowing that it's already failed a crash test with Super Aguri (if indeed the design is the same) - I don't think they can just take it to a different MOT tester and see what happens...

Unlikely to be serious.
These guys try to design to the edge of the envelope. Three/four years ago the McLaren failed the front test. The car was modified and passed a short time later.

Agree its unlikely to be serious, almost every year you hear of teams that fail one or other crash tests, they'd rather it fail first time because its slightly too weak, than pass but with the realisation that its 30% too strong (and hence adding unnecessary weight).

stumartin, thats not what I mean, more that if they've followed the same design then they might need to change it before submitting to test. I would imagine though that the Honda is already through its crash test what with the imminent launch on Thursday.

The crash regs must be tough this year, you would think any team who has been tasked with keeping Takuma Sato alive would build some extra satength into the car.

I'm sure it will give them much trouble. Apparently one of the few areas of the car that Aguri have changed from the RA106 was the rear - on purpose perhaps, to sabotage Spyker's arguments against them using the car?

Or maybe because B&B seemed to be always camplaining about lack of rear end grip, iirc?

Doesn't sound too serious, they passed 9 out of 10 tests

IIRC the test for the monococue sides is a new one introduced this year to help ensure the side of the cockpit doesnt get pierced if a wishbone was to be compressed into it, or if a nose of another car T boned it.
