Hi, i'm currently looking to move about 40 minutes train ride outside of London as the mortgage I can afford will only buy me an en-suite shed.

I'm not too bothered about the extra journey time, but I would like to use it to update my growing website with news articles, features, etc. I currently have two wireless laptops, but would rather not drag them around London, instead I was wondering if there was a PDA solution, where I could easily type articles and update my website without excessive load times or browser restrictions (like you get on phones and psp etc).

Ideally I would like to spend no more than £300 on such an option with at least two hours battery life and other multimedia capability. So can anyone help? If the device could also double as a satnav, that would be a welcome bonus.

How are you currently updating your website? Through a browser? If so, any modern PDA that runs Internet Explorer should suit.

How are you connecting to the 'net on the train?

You should get decent 3G connectivity in London too. Try the HTC Universal or HTC TyTN as both have a keyboard and decent screen (Univeral's is VGA!).

Depending on how your website is built you may also be able to just work on a text file and upload it to a certain location. We've done this for clients who want to be able to update news articles and other content without having to access the actual HTML code. That might be quite convenient for your purposes.

Right now I edit everything within a browser, I also have the ability to upload by sending an email to a special address!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, please keep them coming.

Quite a few content management systems also allow updates by email.

You basically email a secret email address with your latest news posting.
This then appears on the site.
If you want to make major edits then you can use a browser.

There are quite a few good open source platforms for your website.

The trick is to pick the one which matches most of your requirements.
Then customise it to suit.
