I'm at a loss with this error, it couses the PC to take a long time to start up or not start up at all and hang in the first windows XP startup screen.
I have been backwards and forward between hard and software manufacturers but with no result.

Even on a driver only install it plays up, but the PC starts up in safe mode.
Does any one have come across this problem and managed to solve it???
I have tried all sorts and am getting desperate now HELP

Error descriprion:
An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation.

PC configuration:
MOBO: GA K8NMF-9
HD: maxtor 6L300S0
CPU: AMD 64 3700+ San Diago Core
MEM: Corsair Memory CMX512-3200C2PT
VIDEO: Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT GV NX66T128VP
OS: Windows XP pro SP2

I'd be gratefull for any input, thx in advance

Bad sectors on the hard disk, run a chkdsk c: /f /r and/or replace it.

Sorry correction, the one's I've got are an earlier model. confidence is still very high though

yes Banjo'd drive or Banjo'd HDD controller on the mobo. yes

Do sneaky's stuff and replace the drive, if it still won't work, replace mobo. Alternatively if you have a spare HDD kicking around that's known good, throw that in the system and see if you get errors. If yes = Mobo else HDD

I have run the test and and it comes up 0 bad sectors, I have put the pagefile on an other patition but that did not help either, I thought it could be a bad sector but unfortunately it isn't, if I need to buy a new drive I'd be happy to do so.

Up until now I have scanned the HD, plugged it in to an other SATA socket, updated the BIOS and MOBO drivers, re-installed XP, tried various settings in the BIOS and fixed registory problems.

It might still be the HD but the sectors seem to be ok, if you have more sugestions I'll be happy to hear about them.

Cheers

I still wouldn't do anything else untill I'd tried buiding the system on another hard disk.
