Heat wrap for Manifolds

I am going to fit new manifolds to the car and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to fit heat wrap around them first. If anyone has, did you find that it worked well? And also where did you get it from?
I see from the main forum and the pics from the Factory the Speed 12 used it.

I may be wrong, but unless the manifolds are new I don't think they guarantee the process.

Camcoat did my used manifolds 18 months ago and still look great, don't think coating used manifolds should be a problem
I think it is simply cos it has a major impact on keeping engine temps down! Lets face it many of us spend our time in traffic jams watching the temp gauge (and trying to not wear our clutch foot/leg out). I believe that many AJP engine failures (ie including mine) are due to the hot engine conditions impacting valves etc...
Got the two manafolds for £300 they are secondhand but only with 9000 miles on. There are no cracks and they are in very good condition. I tried to get new TVR manafolds but nowhere had any. The only other place that sell new ones is ACT and they are around £850+VAT (A bit much as I have just put the SP system on).
I think I will get these ceramic coated so should end up costing around £500 all in and keep my engine temperature down

I wrapped the manifolds on mine and being as the manifolds are stainless then you don't have to worry about corrosion.
It does reduce underbonnet temps by quite a bit and is possible to do in situ but extremely fiddly.
also manifold wrap is about 35 quid for enough to do the entire exhaust just use stainless lockwire to hold it on.
If the manifolds were ordinary steel then yes it will rot them out in about 3 weeks.
the accelerated corrosion story also comes from when it was used on NASCAR and due to the constant high exhaust temps (800°+) which was then forced higher by the insulation ( about 1100°
it managed to melt the manifolds over a period of time.
However this shouldn't be a problem on a normal cerb. I certainly had no issues and also no trouble when I used it on my wedge

Got them from Douglas Valley and they can be hard to fit about 4-5 hours. You have to take the breather boxes off, loosen the engine mounts and gear box, then jack the engine up slightly and remove de-cats after a bit of fiddling you can get the manifolds off from above by pushing the engine over, one side at a time.

So moderately difficult in Haynes manual terms (read as a skinned knuckles and swearing kind of job).

How do you jack the car up? I have seen a cerb with a damaged sump where it was jacked up (but the whole car jacked up not just the engine)!
Jack the engine up slightly using a wooden palet positioned under the engine, just enough to take most of the weight off the engine. While jacking up do so very slowly and carefully.
