Being a bit of a do it ur selfer, and with a fair bit of knowledge of cars (rebuilding Triumph spitfires and frogeyed sprites) i was wondering if i would be ok doing most of the servicing myself, e.g. changing oils etc. As i am careful wiv my penny's, tappets would be done at a main dealers though. Would i save much money? £££

Get your tappet adjustment done at an independent and I think you'll crack it. No point paying for a dealer over an indy if you're doing most of the servicing yourself.

My history is minis , lotus elans and spitfire amongst boring stuff ...

I felt stitched up a lot by an indie and decided to maintain the cerb myself.

Shes a fairly simple beast - the hardest bits have been seized bolts which you will
be familiar with on the old english stuff!

I think its good to bond with your car - so enjoy!!

There's no problem servicing these yourselves. They're hardly a complicated machine.

Problem is you'll loose your service history so if your service cost saving is less than what you'll loose in sale price and ease of sale then go for it.
