Major Problem - Tamora undriveable

Right, I have got the most pathetic problem with the car which is going to stop me from driving it indefinitely.
Driving home along the M40 tonight, rock comes off back of lorry and hits windscreen. The most horific crack is now featured on the screen, to the point where it is a fair bit dodgy trying to drive the car.
What do i do? Can I get a screen made up? Does the person or company who produced the screens for TVR fancy a bit of private enterprise?
The irony is that a few weeks ago, some of you may recall that I voiced concerns over what would happen if your screen got damaged! I wish I'd kept my big trap shut.
Alternatively, does anyone know of any accident damaged Tamora's that I can get the screen off.
Please help. My MOT comes up in a couple of months and its a definite failure.

Whilst the present situation with TVR may mean obtaining such items as windscreens is much harder, at least try going to someone like Autoglass. I experienced exactly the same issue as you about four months ago. Autoglass managed to obtain and fit a new windscreen (extremely well, I might add) within 10 days.
How are you getting on with sourcing a screen? I have talked about this also on the forum. Fortunatley my screen hasn't cracked but my rear view mirror has snapped off, leaving the base of the mirror attached to the screen. Trying to get it off is causing me a real headache.

Getting a screen is an arse...a very very real one. We are looking into getting some made, but be aware now, right from the start, that if we do it will be expensive. The trouble is glass manufacturers dont want to do it, it isnt worth their time and getting the correctly approved windscreens, you essentially need to go through the correct channels. The big boys generally dont want to know you unless you front up about £25k for a production run. Now, im trying to negotiate a way round this, but no matter what the outcome for new screens they are going to be expensive. Sourcing old screens as ppl are finding out is bloody hard to do and they are a finite ever diminishing stock.

i had heard that there are a big stock of windscreens sitting in a warehouse somewhere in liverpool docks, but because tvr hadnt paid for them, they would not release them, supposidly when tvr is shut down, the source i heard this from can go and buy this large stock of windscreens to sell on. sorry not much info but im sure they wouldnt be happy if i went saying names.

This could be a problem for insurance premiums moving forward (i.e. comprehensive policy, £50 excess and a new screen).
Surely the same supplier who supplied TVR could supply TVR Power with the same 'design' screens (OK, I'm assuming TVR Power want to take screens on but they are a core part of the car and if Power are selling all the bits...). There are a lot of Tuscans out there too - should be a reasonable business case if the supplier will play to the volumes.
I'm not going to leave my car anywhere now in case the screen gets nabbed... (I know its bonded in and probably breaks during removal, just kidding).
I hope those with a broken screen get replacements soon.

Just tried Douglas Valley and they have one for a Tuscan but not Tamora, unless they are the same screen? although I doubt it.
Tried TVR Power - no joy.
Tried RAC Auto-windscreens - again no joy.
Trying - various TVR dealers.
I can't believe something so silly could effectively write off the car. It's bloody stupid - and to think I was considering getting a Sag to use daily

STOP PRESS: Just had a break through! A fantastic TVR dealer (whom shall remain nameless until the screen is fitted 
) has just called me to say that they have located one and will fit it next week - what stars

Finland and there are many customers waiting.!!!! might

There is a TAM screen at Racing Green but has shelving, Auto Glass
would not use this screen on mine as I am going through insurance...

£450 is taking the pee. My understanding is that the screen is below £200 excluding fitting. I'm getting mine done through a TVR main dealer and they located a new screen through their windscreen fitting company. Once mine is definitely fitted and I've seen it in the flesh, I'll ask if they have anymore and let you know. Fingers crossed.

In a few weeks/months the original stocks will be depleted which means anybody who wants will have to be onto new stocks (if they can be done) and then you are looking at a serious price hike! In which case #450 is going to be cheap to the price then.
