Star Wars II (for PC) problem loading?

Hi, looking for some help if possible. i bought the above mentioned game for my son & tried to load it last night. It appeared to load ok then did the usuall restart before playing the game, however clicked on game icon & got a Fatal Error....d3d application not found system will now exit.

Any idea how I can get around/fix this problem to launch the game? My computer is a compaq & is about 4 years old but I thought it would be able to run this game. Also can someone tell me what d3d is?

This is part of DirectX, I suspect that a modern game like Starwars Lego will require DirectX 9.0c. You can download this from Microsoft, but I'm surprised the game CD didn't offer to install this for you. Poke around the CD and see if you can find the install set for it as it'll save the download.

However a 4 year old none upgraded Compaq machine might have issues with the game. What's the graphics card inside of it?
